1955 Born Chicago, Illinois

1968 Shriver family lives in Paris, where Sargent Shriver serves as U.S. ambassador to France

1972 Sargent Shriver runs for vice president on McGovern ticket; Maria meets reporters covering campaign trail and becomes interested in journalism

1977 Maria and Arnold Schwarzenegger meet at Robert F. Kennedy tennis tournament in Forest Hills, NY

1977 Begins journalism  career as news writer for KYW-TV in Philadelphia

1978 Works as associate producer/sound technician at Baltimore station where she meets Oprah and Gayle King
